Election Commission Takes Action Against 8 for Code Violations, Seeks Clarification from 94 Others

Kathmandu. The Election Commission has taken action against 8 individuals for violating the code of conduct and has sought clarification from 94 others.

Commission's Legal Officer Mohanraj Joshi informed that responses to 57 clarification requests from political parties and candidates have been received, and six individuals have been asked for further clarification.

The Commission has also sought clarification from political parties, candidates, governmental and non-governmental organizations, media outlets, and journalists against whom complaints of violating the election code of conduct have been filed. Clarifications from registered media outlets and associated journalists were sought through the Press Council Nepal.

Out of a total of 1,076 complaints received from across the country so far, 1,061 have been resolved, the Commission stated. The highest number of complaints were received from Lumbini Province.
