Chyangre Pond in Bhojpur Becomes Attractive Tourist Destination After Conservation Efforts

Bhojpur. Chyangre Pond located in Pauwadhungma Rural Municipality of Bhojpur has become an attractive destination for tourists. This area has become a favorite for tourism after the pond was conserved and boat services were launched.

The number of domestic tourists has increased in this area after the Rural Municipality conserved this site, which holds touristic, religious, and historical significance, and developed necessary infrastructure targeting tourists. The flow of tourists has further increased after two small boats were put into operation targeting visitors.

The 'Panchakanya Memorial Park' has been constructed targeting tourists, and other structures have also been built for visiting tourists. The Rural Municipality stated that the number of domestic tourists visiting has increased following the conservation of Chyangre Pond. Rural Municipality Chairman Kiran Rai stated that the area is continuously being developed as sustainable tourism infrastructure.

Infrastructure development works, including tree plantation, construction of rest areas, and gardens, are continuously underway to develop the park as a tourist destination. The local level plans to develop the pond and park as a site for educational observation, alongside promoting domestic and external tourism. Necessary procedures have been initiated for the reconstruction of the Panchakanya Temple located near the pond.

Local resident Sabitra Phuyal said that domestic tourists come to view the natural beauty of the pond. According to local residents, the pond was named 'Chyangre Pond' because, in ancient times, goats ('Chyangra') used to come here to drink water and rest for the day. Locals also claim that the pond's water never dries up, even during severe droughts since ancient times.

The Chyangre market is also held here, named after this very pond. Local resident Ram Pulami Magar stated that domestic tourists come here to rest, wander, take pictures, and fully enjoy the scenery. He added that the conservation has contributed to the tourism sector here.

Local residents mentioned that devotees gather at the Panchakanya Temple next to the pond during various religious ceremonies. Local residents believe that promoting this historically and religiously significant place can also provide economic support.
