CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda Condemns Extremist Acts of Violence and Vandalism

Kathmandu. The Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', stated that both the killing on Bhadra 23 and the destruction on Bhadra 24 were manifestations of extremist tendencies. He condemned both tendencies during a press conference held at the central office in Parisdanda on Thursday.

'The government killed 23 youth from the Janajati community. We were the first to condemn the killing of the Janajati youth and demanded the government's resignation. The next day, we called a meeting of opposition parties to protest the government's repression. The government's arrogance and hubris have still not been reviewed. That tendency still persists. The act of burning state property, party offices, and leaders' homes on Bhadra 24 is another extremist tendency. Neither of these tendencies reflects the sentiment of the Nepali people. I appeal to defeat both these tendencies,' he said.

At the press conference, he expressed confidence that the Nepali Communist Party would be victorious in this election by defeating both these tendencies.

He stated, 'We will not form an alliance with anyone,' clarifying his stance regarding the elections. 'We have been saying from the beginning that we will proceed based on our own agenda. However, there have been repeated rumors outside about this matter. I want to state clearly that we will not form an alliance with either of these destructive tendencies. I want to dismiss the rumors about an impending coalition.'
