Nepal's Gen-Z Front Demands Immediate Publication and Implementation of Probe Commission Report, Threatens Protests

Kathmandu. Nepal's Gen-Z Front has demanded that the government immediately publicize and implement the report of the investigation commission formed under the leadership of Gauri Bahadur Karki. Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the Front warned of returning to street protests if the demands are not met.

‘We had expected that the investigation commission formed under the leadership of Gauri Bahadur Karki, without elections, would impartially investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, and that this interim government would publicize the report and initiate the process of taking just action against the guilty,’ the press release issued by the Front stated, ‘However, the repeated extensions of the commission's term and the extension until Falgun 21 after the elections have seriously worried us.’

Stating that justice for the Gen-Z movement is its primary demand, the Front warned that it would be forced to take to the streets again if justice is sidelined.

Demanding the immediate publication of the commission's report, the Front announced it will submit a letter of caution to the Prime Minister tomorrow (Thursday). The Front stated it will submit the memorandum at 11 AM and demand a clear commitment from the government to publicize the report immediately after the elections.

Furthermore, the Front drew the attention of all political parties, urging that the new government formed from the upcoming elections must take ownership of the report, take action against the guilty, ensure justice for the victims, and end impunity.

The statement also appealed to all media outlets, journalists, editors, and civil society organizations to exert pressure from their respective positions to ensure the report is made public.
