Bus Accident on Madan Bhandari Highway in Udayapur Injures 15 People

Udayapur. Fifteen people were injured in a bus accident today on the Madan Bhandari Highway in Adheri Jogitol, Udayapur Gadhi Rural Municipality-7.

The accident occurred when the Okhaldhunga-bound bus with registration number Ba 2 Kha 6257, traveling from Katari towards Gaighat, suddenly experienced brake failure and plunged about 30-40 feet down the road. Police stated that all the injured have been taken to the District Hospital Udayapur for treatment.

Following the accident, a joint team was deployed, consisting of 13 members from the QRT team under the command of Sapnau Bhuwan Bhandari from the Armed Police Force Nepal No. 5 Battalion Triyuga, and 6 members from the Temporary Police Post Sangam Chowk under the command of Prasani Tilak Poudel. The bus remains at the scene of the accident, and the driver, 45-year-old Bikram Rai from Katari Municipality-4, has been taken into custody by the Sangam Chowk Police Post.

Those injured include 22-year-old Manika Magar from Triyuga Municipality-11, 35-year-old Anita Chaudhary from Katari Municipality-4, 73-year-old Sommaya Magar from Udayapur Gadhi Rural Municipality-7, 40-year-old Prakash Bhujel from Tapli Rural Municipality-5, 21-year-old Reshika Basnet from Triyuga Municipality-7 Chuhade, 17-year-old Tilak Basnet from Rautamai Rural Municipality-7, 10-year-old Dipesh Tamang from Udayapur Gadhi Rural Municipality, 19-year-old Pabitra Shrestha from Katari Municipality-4, and 20-year-old Reshma Basnet from Triyuga Municipality-5.

Additionally, 60-year-old Sommaya Pariyar from Katari Municipality-2 Golpark, 27-year-old Nitesh Budhathoki (co-driver) from Katari Municipality-3, 78-year-old Dal Bahadur Tamang from Katari Municipality-5, 15-year-old Prem Tamang from Katari Municipality-4, 28-year-old Subash Nepali from Tapli Rural Municipality-5 Rupaṭar, and 15-year-old Sujan Tamang from Katari Municipality-4 were injured, informed Armed Police Deputy Spokesperson Shailendra Thapa. The police stated that further investigation into the incident is underway.
