Rastriya Swatantra Party Leader in Nuwakot Resigns, Citing Ideological Drift

Kathmandu. Ashok Kumar Thapa, a leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) in Nuwakot, has resigned from the party. He publicly announced his decision on Saturday morning via the social media platform Facebook.

Thapa accused the party of deviating from its ideology and principles, alleging that leadership selection was beginning to be based on 'blessings' rather than policy. He stated that it was no longer appropriate to remain in a situation where the party was becoming undemocratic by sidelining active workers in organization building.

Thapa, who had been active as a district member and Bidur Municipality in-charge for RSP Nuwakot since the 2079 elections, was considered close to Suman Bikram Pandey, the candidate for Nuwakot Constituency No. 2 in the same year.
