Over 4 Million Afghan Refugees Return Home in Past Year, Says Ministry Spokesperson

Kathmandu. Abdul Mutalib Haqqani, spokesperson for the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation, stated that more than 4 million Afghan refugees have returned to their homeland Afghanistan over a period of approximately one year.

It has been reported that 4,076,808 Afghan refugees have returned to Afghanistan since the beginning of the current year. Media outlets including Afghanistan's Radio Television quoted Haqqani as saying that those returning include both voluntary returnees and deportees.

Official media have reported that after receiving essential aid, all those who returned home and were temporarily staying in camps have been relocated to their respective home provinces.

It is reported that since the Afghan government took power in August 2021, more than 8 million Afghan refugees have voluntarily returned home from neighboring states and other countries.
