Former President Bhandari Expresses Hope for Sustainable Peace and Development on Democracy Day

Kathmandu. Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has expressed confidence that National Democracy Day will provide new enthusiasm to move the country forward on the path of sustainable peace, good governance, development, and prosperity. Issuing a message of best wishes on the occasion of Democracy Day, she recalled the historic struggle and sacrifice made by the Nepali people against autocratic rule. 

Stating that the unity of the people made democracy and political freedom possible, she portrayed this day as a source of inspiration. Bhandari emphasized the need to embrace democracy not just as a political system but as a way of life and culture. 

It is the need of the hour to further strengthen democratic practice by balancing the rights and duties granted by the constitution, she said. She mentioned that all citizens must remain continuously aware and strive for the protection and strengthening of democracy.

Especially observing the current political situation, former President Bhandari discussed the importance of the upcoming general election scheduled for Falgun 21. She clarified that it is the shared responsibility of all stakeholders and citizens to ensure that the election is conducted in a fair, peaceful, and reliable manner.
