Rabi Lamichhane Claims End to Misgovernance in Upcoming Elections, Urges Voters to 'Contract' Leaders

Dhangadhi. Chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rabi Lamichhane, has claimed that the 'shutter' of misgovernance and disorder plaguing the nation will be permanently closed in the upcoming elections. Addressing a massive election rally in Dhangadhi, Sudurpashchim, on Wednesday, Lamichhane stated that an era has begun where the public will not just vote for leaders but will 'contract' them.

He asserted that RSP has entered the field to end the political tradition of writing attractive promises in election manifestos for years without fulfilling them. Claiming that RSP has signed a written agreement with the public for the first time in Nepal's history, Chairman Lamichhane urged voters to grant a mandate to run a stable government for five years this time.

Stressing the need to establish a system where leaders who fail to keep their promises face consequences, as opposed to the current situation where the public suffers when leaders fail to deliver on their pledges, he emphasized RSP's commitment to changing not just the structure of Singha Durbar but also its working style and intentions.

Accusing old parties of spreading misinformation that RSP, if elected, would bulldoze the settlements of the poor, Lamichhane countered by asking who has been bulldozing the dreams of the people for the past 35 years. He pledged to end the era of merely using the problems of Sudurpashchim as a vote bank. He called for voting for the 'Bell' symbol in both direct and proportional representation categories to eradicate corruption and disorder completely from the roots, not just by half.

Lamichhane specifically addressed Nepalis working in India from Sudurpashchim, appealing to them to take leave if necessary and come to vote in this historic opportunity to change the country. He claimed that the election on the 21st is an opportunity not just to cast a vote but to write a new history.

He declared that the political anomaly of keeping the rights of the people entangled as mere demands will not last much longer, vowing to shut down the shutter of misgovernance for good.
