Ranju Darshana Campaigns for Parliament Seat Despite Being Nine Months Pregnant

Kathmandu. Ranju Darshana, who was the mayoral candidate for Kathmandu from Bibeksheel Nepali in the 2074 local elections, is now contesting as the candidate for the Rastriya Swatantra Party in Kathmandu Constituency No. 1 in this election. Ranju, who entered politics at the age of 17, has been actively campaigning as the election approaches. She has not stopped her election campaigning despite being nine months pregnant.

Since the Election Commission set a 15-day timeframe for campaigning starting Monday, she has been out campaigning with her husband. This constituency, which includes Wards 10, 11, 29, and 31 of KMC falling under Kathmandu Constituency No. 1, has a total of 48,489 voters, comprising 23,237 males and 25,252 females. There are 29 candidates in the electoral field, 16 affiliated with political parties and 13 independent. Among them, she is one of the four female candidates.

In the 2074 local level elections, when she was the mayoral candidate for Kathmandu Metropolitan City from Bibeksheel Sajha, she received 23,439 votes. In 2079, she was a candidate for the House of Representatives from Kathmandu-5, also representing Bibeksheel Sajha. However, the result was not favorable for her that time. This time, due to the strong wave for the RSP, Ranju is confident that the voters of Kathmandu-1 will support her.
