Sri Lanka Dominates Australia by 8 Wickets, Maintains Unbeaten Streak in T20 World Cup

Kathmandu. Sri Lanka secured an 8-wicket victory over Australia in the 30th match of the T20 World Cup, maintaining their undefeated run in the tournament. Sri Lanka comfortably chased down the target of 182 runs with 12 balls remaining in the match held at Pallekele.

Batting first, Australia lost all their wickets, setting a total of 181 runs in the scheduled 20 overs. Team openers Travis Head (56 runs) and Mitchell Marsh (54 runs) provided an excellent start, forming a century partnership.

Although Josh Inglis (27) and Glenn Maxwell (22) contributed moderately afterward, other batters failed to post large scores, preventing the team from reaching close to 200. Dushan Hemantha took 3 wickets for Sri Lanka, while Dushmantha Chameera claimed 2 wickets.

Chasing the target of 182 runs, Sri Lanka displayed aggressive and controlled batting from the start.

Opener Pathum Nissanka was in spectacular form, completing his first World Cup century by scoring an unbeaten 100 runs off 52 balls. He kept the Australian bowlers under pressure throughout his innings.

Kusal Mendis provided excellent support, scoring 51 runs off 38 balls, while Pawan Ratnayake contributed 28 runs off 15 balls. Sri Lanka achieved the target in just 18 overs, losing only 2 wickets.
