Army Chief Launches Seventh Edition of Unity Journal Featuring Winning Strategic Essays

Kathmandu. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ashok Raj Sigdel has unveiled the seventh edition of the Unity Journal, a compilation of selected entries from the Nepali Army's Open Strategic Essay Competition-2082.

The journal was published on the occasion of Mahashivaratri and the Nepali Army's 263rd Anniversary. The Army publishes the Unity Journal by including outstanding essays based on strategic topics of national, regional, and international importance.

At a ceremony held at the Army Headquarters, COAS Sigdel presented cash prizes and appreciation letters to the winners of the Open Strategic Essay Competition-2082: Assistant Major General Madhav Thapa and Dr. Gita Thapaliya, who secured first and second place respectively, and Srijana Acharya and Assistant Major General Arjun Basnet, who secured third place.

On the same occasion, the COAS also presented appreciation letters to the members of the evaluation and editorial board of the journal, as well as to the authors, the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Army stated. Professor Dr. Dhruv Karki provided information regarding the importance of publishing the journal during the event.

The Army believes that this type of competition will foster a habit of research and study on various dimensions of national security among the nation's intellectual and educated class, thereby increasing interest and contemplation regarding patriotism and national security.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by the Adjutant General, the professorate, Generals, subject matter experts and editorial board members, authors, as well as officers, non-commissioned officers, and other ranks of the Nepali Army.
