Maoist Leader Prachanda Recalls People's War Memories on Anniversary, Cites Current National Challenges

Kathmandu, 1 Falgun: CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' stated that the memories of the People's War were fresh as he offered good wishes on the occasion of the 31st People's War Day.

"This year's People's War Day is special for me. While celebrating the People's War in Rukum East, all those memories of the People's War have come fresh," he said, "It was the inspiration from the people here during the People's War that gave us energy."

He mentioned that the contribution of the poor, women, and indigenous nationalities was decisive in establishing the Federal Democratic Republic. "If the poor, women, and indigenous nationalities here had not shed blood, we would not be in an inclusive and proportional republic today," he said emotionally, "I am a bit emotional and reflective upon coming here. We will move forward with the same inspiration and new energy as the People's War."

Chairman Prachanda noted that the current situation of the nation is challenging. He opined that the country is moving through a difficult phase, stating that the election scheduled for 2084 BS has been forced to be held in 2082 BS.

"In such a time of crisis, we must learn lessons from the inspirations of history and move forward in favor of the nation and nationality again," he said, "I take this opportunity as a resolution to start a new journey towards socialism."

He expressed a commitment to move forward with the resolve and determination from the People's War era and stated that a campaign would be launched to protect the right to self-determination of the Nepali people.
