National Men's and Women's Hockey Tournament Scheduled for Kathmandu in Falgun

Kathmandu. The Nepal Hockey Association has announced that it will organize the National Women's and Men's Hockey Tournament in Kathmandu starting from Falgun 4. The association, holding a press conference in the capital on Friday, informed that the tournament will be conducted at Dasharath Stadium from Falgun 4 to 11 as per its annual program.

Six teams in the men's category and five teams in the women's category will compete for the title in the tournament. Participating teams in the men's category include Madhes, Gandaki, Koshi, Bagmati, Sudur Paschim Province, and Nepal Police Club, while in the women's category, teams from Koshi, Gandaki, Madhes, Sudur Paschim, and Bagmati provinces will take the field. According to the organizers, the tournament is estimated to cost around 4 million rupees.

In terms of prizes, the top three teams in both the men's and women's categories will receive cash prizes of 75,000, 50,000, and 25,000 rupees, respectively. Outstanding players in individual categories will receive 5,000 rupees each, and the 'Player of the Match' for each game will be awarded 2,000 rupees in cash.

The association believes that this tournament, held at Dasharath Stadium, will increase the attraction of the younger generation towards the sport of hockey.
