Nepal Stresses Regional Cooperation as Essential Amidst Changing Global Landscape

Kathmandu. Nepal has stated that regional cooperation is not only necessary but mandatory in the changing global environment.

Foreign Secretary and Chairman of the SAARC Standing Committee, Amrit Bahadur Rai, stated this during the 62nd meeting of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Program Committee.

Stating that regional cooperation is not only necessary but mandatory amidst today's global challenges and uncertainties, he emphasized that regional collaboration is essential as a bridge between national efforts and global processes.

SAARC Secretary-General Golam Sarwar recalled the achievements made by SAARC over four decades and stressed the need to transform the aspiration for regional cooperation into practice.

The meeting, concluding today, will approve the budget and programs of the SAARC Secretariat. Senior officials from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are participating in the meeting.
