CPN Chairman Prachanda Claims Party Has Reached the 'Stars' Ahead of Elections

Pokhara. Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', stated that his party has already reached the stars.

Addressing an election rally of the CPN in Pokhara on Wednesday, he argued sarcastically that they have reached the stars, which are much higher than the sun. 'We have already reached the stars. How much higher the stars are than the sun, we are not yet fully aware of that level we have reached,' he said. 'It is equally important for you all to pay close attention to making the people well aware of your election symbol and party.'

He claimed that although new parties appear strong in the proportional representation category, the CPN will be the first in the direct elections.

'Looking at the situation everywhere, although a wave for new parties is visible in the proportional representation segment, the wave for the direct elections is with the Communist Party of Nepal,' he continued. 'The wave for direct elections is more towards us. Therefore, we must be able to cash in on this.' Prachanda claimed that the party will become the number one party standing on its own feet. He reiterated that they will not form an alliance with any power.

'We are not going to make any kind of equation or adjustment,' he said. 'We want to be tested standing on our own feet, on the strength of the people's trust, and I believe we will pass that test. By the time the election comes, we will reach a position to become the number one party.'

Mentioning that the election, which should have been held in 2084 BS, is taking place in 2082 BS amidst difficult political circumstances, Prachanda stated that this is not a normal election but one linked to the nation's existence.
