Government Agency Moves to Resolve Cooking Gas Supply Issues in Kathmandu

Kathmandu. The Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection has stated it will coordinate and regulate transportation management effectively to resolve the issues seen in the supply of cooking gas.

Consumers have been facing hardships due to problems in cooking gas distribution in recent days. The Department has urged Nepal Oil Corporation to make transportation management effective. The Department has also issued necessary directives to the major gas production companies.

During the monitoring of available gas bottling industries in the Kathmandu Valley, the Department directed them to increase production and distribution according to consumer demand.

The Department has directed industries to increase production capacity by supplying gas at full capacity. Dealers, retailers, and supplier companies distributing LP gas must maintain an effective record of consumer demand and ensure equitable distribution to prevent unnecessary hoarding of gas.

Similarly, the Department has urged consumers and commercial establishments to cooperate by purchasing only the required amount and avoiding unnecessary stockpiling.

The Department clarified that it has monitored and analyzed the status of the supply chain regarding gas availability, storage, and distribution at the industry level, major supplier level, and small dealer level in the market.
