Decayed body identified

Mahottari - A decayed body of a woman which was found in the Sagarnath Forest in Gaushala Municipality-8 in the district on July 25 has been indentified. Police confirmed that the body was of Santoliya Kumari Mahato, 22, spouse of Bikram Mahato of Gaushala Municipality-2. 

The recovery of the body from a rivulet near the jungle had prompted the police for investigation, which led to the revelation of involvement of her father Shivajee Mahato and elder brother Binod Kumar Mahato in her killing. 

The two allegedly strangulated her with her shawl before throwing the body into a rivulet. Her husband is currently in Malaysia for employment. 

Her maternal family charged her of keeping extra-martial affairs in the absence of her husband and murdered for ignoring their call to 'correct' her behaviour, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dipak Pokhrel.
