Syrian Delegation Arrives in Hasakah to Coordinate SDF Integration into National Army

A delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Defense has arrived in Hasakah to coordinate the process of integrating the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the national army. This move is a significant part of the ceasefire and integration agreement brokered internationally on January 30. Technical discussions have begun regarding the process of integrating SDF fighters into the national security forces. Under the agreement, the SDF is required to hand over its heavy weaponry, oil fields, and key infrastructure such as the Qamishli airport to the interim government. A new political equation has developed in Syria following the ousting of Bashar al-Assad by Ahmed al-Shara in December 2024. Syrian internal security forces have entered areas like Hasakah and Qamishli and have established joint checkpoints and patrols.
