US Imposes New Sanctions on Iran Over Oil Trade

Tehran. The administration of US President Donald Trump has announced new sanctions against various entities and individuals related to Iran's oil trade. The sanctions list includes 15 institutions, two individuals, and 14 vessels belonging to a so-called shadow fleet.

In a statement released by the US State Department, it was stated that the administration is committed to stopping the illegal oil and petrochemical exports carried out by the Iranian regime. According to the Ministry, this step has been taken as part of a strategy to increase pressure on Iran.

This announcement was made on the same day that indirect talks between the US and Iran concluded in Muscat, Oman. According to Iran's state news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi clarified that the talks were entirely focused on the nuclear issue. According to him, Tehran did not discuss any other matter with Washington.

Araghchi mentioned that deep mistrust persists between the two countries due to past behavior and experiences, stating that this mistrust has become the biggest challenge for the talks.
