CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli Stresses Positive View of New Generation Entering Politics

Jhapa. Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), KP Sharma Oli, has stated that the entry of the new generation into the political arena should be viewed as natural and positive.

During a brief interaction with journalists at Chandragadhi Airport upon his arrival in his home district Jhapa on Friday, Chairman Oli expressed the view that it is wrong to discourage the younger generation who aspire to learn and are eager for political engagement. He clarified that it is not wrong for the new generation to say, 'I want to learn, I want to join politics,' and emphasized the necessity of generational transition in politics.

"Only the combination of experience and energy can strengthen political culture," he said. Chairman Oli, who is contesting the House of Representatives election from Jhapa Constituency No. 5 on February 21 on behalf of the UML, arrived here today via air route.

Mentioning that political competition is welcome, he stated that he would always openly accept anyone who comes forward to compete with him. Chairman Oli expressed confidence that healthy competition and active participation of the youth will make politics more mature in democratic practice.
