Dharan Football Club Advances to Quarterfinals in 26th International Invitation Budhasubba Gold Cup After Penalty Shootout Victory

Dharan. The host Dharan Football Club has entered the quarterfinals of the 26th International Invitation Budhasubba Gold Cup Football Tournament.

In the opening match of the tournament, which began today at the stadium located in Dharan Metropolitan City-16, Dharan Football Club secured a place in the quarterfinals by defeating Georgian Football Club (India) 4-2 in a tiebreaker.

After both teams played to a 1-1 draw in the stipulated time, the match proceeded to a penalty shootout in the final moments. By defeating India in the tiebreaker, the host Dharan made a winning start to the tournament.

In the tiebreaker, Dharan Football Club's Prajwal Thapa, Nagen Rai, Bibek Rai, and Raj Limbu scored goals, while Georgian Football Club's Saija and Sharad Munda successfully scored. Dharan's goalkeeper Bipul Magar saved the shots from Boxer Pradhan and Bishal Chhetri.

In today's match, Dharan Football Club's Bipul Magar was declared the 'Man of the Match' and received a cash prize of NPR 10,000. Pratap Tamang, the chairman of the organizing committee, informed that Jhapa-11 Jhapa and Royal Thimphu Club (Bhutan) will compete on Friday as part of the tournament.

Ten teams are participating in the tournament. The winner will receive a cash prize of NPR 1 million, while the runner-up will receive NPR 500,000. Furthermore, the organizer announced that the best player of the tournament will be awarded a scooter.

Each match's Man of the Match will receive NPR 10,000, while the best goalkeeper, best defender, best midfielder, best striker, and best coach will each receive NPR 25,000, and the top scorer will receive NPR 35,000.
