Education official released after 12 hours in CIAA detention

Mahottari - Sarlahi's District Education Official has been released after 12 hours in detention for investigation by the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Liaison Office, Bardibas. 

DEO Homnath Subedi was taken under control on Friday and released at around 10 pm. Subedi was arrested with Rs 600,095 in cash and has been ordered to appear with evidence on August 2. 

During the interrogation, Subedi claimed that the money belonged to him, which prompted the authorities to ask him to reappear with evidence to substantiate his claim, stated CIAA Regional Liaison Office, Bardibas. 

The District Police Office, Chitwan had arrested DEO Subedi on suspicion. He was arrested on a tip off while heading home to Chitwan from Sarlahi on a Bolero jeep with Indian registration plate on Friday with the cash. 

Subedi has been serving as the DEO of Sarlahi for the past one year. CIAA has stated that the DEO is still under investigation.
