South Korea, US Form Joint Panel on Peaceful Nuclear Fuel

South Korea has announced the creation of a joint working group with the United States on uranium enrichment and spent fuel reprocessing for peaceful purposes.

The move follows US approval for Seoul to pursue low-enriched uranium production and fuel reprocessing, after a summit between President Lee Jae Myungآ and US President Donald Trump in October.

The collaboration is part of a broader November agreement covering nuclear energy and US tariff reductions.

Seoul aims to revise its bilateral nuclear accord to secure permanent pre-approval for enrichment and reprocessing, ensuring stable fuel supplies for commercial nuclear power plants.
