Govt. active for sustainable peace and political stability: Home Minister Thapa

Hetauda – Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that the government has now focused its attention for economic prosperity in the country by maintaining peace and political stability. 


In a press conference organised here today, Home Minister Thapa stressed the need of making the law enforcement more effective to control criminal activities and smuggling in the country. 


He said that it was necessary to organise province-level security seminars for some revision in existing laws to further strengthen peace and security management. 


Responding a query, the Home Minister said that security has been tightened in view of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit and expressed the belief that Modi's Nepal visit would further strengthen Nepal-India relations. 


He further said that unification between CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Centre) was mandatory for the sustainable development and political stability in the country as well as to engage the people in economic prosperity as the people have given majority votes to the left alliance in the election. 


Meanwhile, Home Minister Thapa inaugurated the province-level security seminar organised by the Home Ministry, Kathmandu, at Hetauda of Province No 3. 


Chief District Officers, Chiefs of Nepal Police, Chiefs of National Investigation Department, Chiefs of Armed Police Force as well as high-ranking officials of security bodies of 13 districts under the Province No 3 have been participating in the seminar. 


On the occasion, Home Secretary, Prem Kumar Rai, expressed the belief that the Ministry would prepare a strategY, to be adopted for peace and security, based on the suggestions collected in the seminar.
