Ramche folks compelled to walk for three days to receive local-level services

Babiyachaur – Though in a long gap of two decades, the local level elections were held successfully with the promises that people would receive the government/state services at their doorsteps in a new federal Nepal.

But the people from Ramche in Annapurna Rural Municipality, Myagdi, have felt that their dream of getting services in an easier and accessible way was badly deferred, for they were still compelled to spend at least three days to receive the service by visiting the center based at Pokharebagar of Annapurna Rural Municipality-6. Ramche that lies is Ward No 8 of the Municipality is deprived of better and accessible road facilities, forcing them to two options --either walking for three days or using an alternative motorable road from Jaljala of Parbat to district headquarters Beni to Pokharebagar--to get services. The travel by motors requires a whole day, said one Jasmaya Purja of Nagi. 

We heard about the slogan of 'Singha Durbar in every village' during the election campaigns, but now we are in need of travelling to unfamiliar place to receive services provided by local levels. 

Their plight do not end here- lack of required human resources at the center and delay in getting services and the compulsion of visiting the district headquarters again for the financial chores have made situation tougher, Purja shared the plight. Ward No 8 of the Municipality is home to 420 households incorporating the villages- Nagi, Thawan, Kafaldanda, Dharapani and Ramche.
