25 local levels without budget four months into the new FY

Kathmandu, Nov 16: Four months of the current fiscal year have passed but 24 local levels of Madhesh Province have not been able to present their budget yet. A total of 728 local levels presented their budget estimates for the new fiscal year 25 local levels have failed to do so.

According to the constitutional provision, the federal government must present its budget by Jestha 15 of every year, the provincial government by Asad 1, and the local levels by Asad 10 in the Lunar Calendar. Even after the completion of the quarter of the current fiscal year, 112 local levels out of a total of 136 local levels in Madhesh Province have presented their budgets but 24 local levels have not.

According to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Rajbiraj Municipality Agnisair Krishnasawaran Rural Municipality, Balan Bihun Rural Municipality, and Kalyanpur Municipality of Saptari have not presented their budgets.

The other local levels that are yet to table their income and expenditure estimates for the current FY are Dhangadhimai Municipality, Sukhipur Municipality of Siraha, Kshireshwor Municipality of Dhanusha, Nagarain Municipality, Aurahi Rural Municipality, Kamala Municipality, Janakandini Rural Municipality.

Similarly, Dhanusha's Dhanauji Rural Municipality, Mahottari's Sonma Rural Municipality, Malangawa Municipality, Sarlahi's Hariwon Municipality and Chandranagar Rural Municipality and Ramnagar Rural Municipality, Rautahat's Katahariya Municipality, Dewahi Gonahi Municipality, Fatuwa Bijaypur Municipality, Yamunamai Rural Municipality, Bara's Mahagadhimai Municipality, Bishrampur Rural Municipality and Parsa's Pakaha Mainpur Rural Municipality have not presented the budget for the current fiscal year yet.

Suddhodhan Rural Municipality of Lumbini Province has also not presented the budget for the current fiscal year yet.
