Attack on Balsanta Acharya condemned

 

 

Biratnagar –The Bhagawat Society, Rangeli has condemned the gunfire attack on Balsanta Shreeniwas Acharya took place in the wee hours on Sunday. 


Issuing a press statement here today, the religious society warned that it would launch a stern protest against the incident if the guilty in the crime was not brought to book. The society demanded that all and everyone should be allowed to follow and practice religious and culture as per own interests when the nation was already declared secularism. 


The 50-year-old priest of Chakarghati-based Laxmi Venkates Temple was in Biratnagar to facilitate the Shrimad Bhagawat Purana, a religious event, at the local Ramjanaki Temple when he was shot at by an unidentified group at around 1:45 am. Police Sunday itself arrested two persons on the suspicion of their involvement in the incident. However, their identified have not been disclosed. 


Acharya is undergoing treatment at the Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital and is said to be out of life threatening condition.
