Maoist Center’s campaign receives strong support: Prachanda

Kathmandu, March 9 — Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the Chairman of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Center), has stated that the party's Terai-Madhes Awakening Campaign, focused on the Postal Highway, has further strengthened the people's trust in the Maoist party.

Prachanda made this statement while virtually addressing the second general assembly of the Nepali Jana Pragatisheel Manch Japan on Sunday.

He mentioned, "At the latest Central Committee meeting, the Maoist Center decided to maintain emotional unity among its leaders and move forward by aligning the party with the people. According to this decision, we are currently active in the Postal Highway-centric Maoist Terai-Madhes Awakening Campaign. The entire party is involved in this campaign. We are living with the people, eating and discussing with them, and strengthening the relationship between the party and the people. This has led to a more positive sentiment towards the Maoist party among the public. People are beginning to realize that 'the real party is the Maoist Center."

Prachanda also spoke about the unconstitutional removal of the Maoist-led government when they were working in favor of the people and fighting against corruption.

"We were doing good work, but they removed our government. However, the people have understood this well. We did not need to campaign for this. I had communicated directly with the people after receiving a vote of confidence. Even when the situation was such that a major party should form the government, an unconstitutional and undemocratic government was formed. The people have understood this clearly," he said.

He also mentioned that the Postal Highway construction and the Maoist Center’s role in it had brought more enthusiasm to the public in the surrounding areas as part of the awakening campaign.

'Prachanda' also stated that nearly 4,000 people have joined the Maoist Centre in the campaign from Jhapa to Mahottari, emphasizing that many of these new members are leaders who have had a positive impact on the people. This, according to Prachanda, has further energized the party ranks.

Prachanda mentioned that when the Maoist Centre temporarily halted the campaign, not only party members but leaders from other parties, intellectuals, and civil servants also urged the party to resume the campaign, showing its clear impact.

Prachanda said, "Stopping anti-people activities of the government is the responsibility of the Maoist Center. While the people are enthusiastically participating in the campaign, we have decided to temporarily pause it and focus on the work related to Parliament and student union elections."

He added that the campaign would resume in a few days after considering the political activities in Kathmandu.

Prachanda also acknowledged the significant role the Nepali Jana Pragatisheel Manch Japan has played in the party’s formation. He urged the non-resident Nepali (NRN) community to strengthen the party's achievements, particularly the government’s work under the leadership of the Maoist Center, such as granting citizenship to NRNs and enrolling Nepali workers abroad into the Social Security Fund.

The general assembly of the Nepali Jana Pragatisheel Manch Japan was attended by In-charge Om Sharma and other members.
