'No going back' as Nepal moves forward with progressive agendas: Prachanda

Mahottari, March 6 — CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has warned that if feudal ghosts, who were defeated by the power of the Nepali people, try to rise again, they will be eradicated by the power of the people.
He expressed this view while addressing a public awareness meeting organized by the Maoist Centre in the Simsi Rural Municipality of Mahottari under the Terai Madhesh Awakening Campaign.
He pointed out that the forces defeated by the Nepali people sometimes try to raise their heads but warned that such forces should not dream of returning, as history will not go backward.
Prachanda emphasized that the current need is to protect the rights gained by the people and to move forward with progressive agendas such as the directly elected executive head and a fully proportional electoral system.
He stated that anyone thinking of going backward should not be entertained.
Prachanda reiterated that no king or ruler gave the people their rights, but the people themselves seized their rights through their own strength.
He stressed the need to protect, use, and develop these rights, and to make the Maoist party stronger by empowering the people.
Prachanda further stated that the country cannot function in the current situation and that a new movement is necessary.
He emphasized that to prepare for this movement, they must reach out to the most oppressed and marginalized communities, making a clear self-reflection on their role and presence among the people.
