Prachanda stresses BRI's benefits for Nepal

Chitwan, December 10 — Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre), has stated that the Chinese development project, Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is in Nepal's interest.

Speaking to journalists in Chitwan on Tuesday, Prachanda remarked that given the current competition between China and the United States, it is natural for both sides to show concern about each other's strategies. He specifically referred to the Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) and BRI.

He further stated, "There will naturally be concern about BRI and MCC because China and the U.S. are seen as primary competitors. When two strategies emerge, it's natural for each to be concerned about the other. During my second term as Prime Minister, the agreement for BRI was signed, and now there's confusion about moving forward with it. But it must progress."

Prachanda also emphasized that his party is focused on meeting the development aspirations of the people, stating, "Our focus is not on the government; it is on the people. We are working on mobilizing the public and continuously monitoring the government's work."
