Former Vice President Pasang to be appointed Maoist Center Vice Chairman
Kathmandu, December 4 — The Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) is set to appoint former Vice President Nanda Kishor Pun Pasang as a Vice-Chairman of the party. Sources confirm that the party’s office-bearers' meeting, scheduled for Thursday, will finalize this decision.
In addition to Pasang, the Maoist Centre is also preparing to make Amik Sherchan, the former Chief of Lumbini Province, a Vice-Chairman. Party Chairman Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda' had previously promised to appoint Pasang, who has been regularly attending the party’s meetings since November.
Sherchan, who was removed from his post as the province head after the recent alliance between the Congress and UML, will also be appointed to the position of Vice-Chairman, according to sources.
Pasang served as the Vice President of Nepal from 2015 until 2023, while Sherchan held the position of Lumbini Province Chief until 2022.
The party’s leadership meeting, set to take place at Prachanda’s residence in Khumaltar, will discuss the appointments, with the source confirming that the meeting's agenda includes appointing Pasang and Sherchan as Vice-Chairmen, alongside the postponement of the ANNFSU (R) convention.
Currently, the Maoist Centre has 22 office-bearers, including Senior Vice-Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha, and Vice-Chairmen Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Agni Prasad Sapkota, and Pampha Bhusal.
RatoPati had first reported Pasang’s return to politics earlier.
