No politicking in name of religion, PM Oli cautions
Kathmandu, November 12 — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said there should be no politicking in the name of any religion.
In a meeting with the office-bearers of the Jain Swetambar Terapantha Sabha at his residence in Baluwatar today, PM Oli said that politics should not be mixed in religion as the State respects all the religions in Nepal, which is a secular nation.
"On the one hand, a campaign has been launched calling for declaring Nepal as a Hindu state while poverty has been misused in spreading Christianity on the other. We will gradually curb such practices. We should not harbour intolerance and narrow thinking in the name of any religion. It is an individual's choice which faith to follow and we respect it," he said.
On the occasion, disciples of the Acharya Mahashraman, Ramesh Kumar and Ratna Kumar apprised the Prime Minister about the works they have done for promoting peace, morality, goodwill, humanism as well as for building a drug-free society.
