PM Oli denies SPP agreement, dismisses Maoist criticism as 'confusion'

Biratnagar, November 11 — Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has stated that the country will not be allowed to fall apart. He made these remarks in response to a question regarding the Nepal Electricity Authority not providing a power connection to industries.

While speaking briefly to journalists in Biratnagar, Oli said, "The power line has not been connected? Fine, that should be looked into. However, we will not allow the country to be ruined, the industries to shut down, or the country to collapse."

Oli also mentioned that he would lead the government for 1 year and 8 months, after which Sher Bahadur Deuba would become the Prime Minister. "After that, elections will be held, and a new government will be formed based on the results," he said.

He further added that the Maoist Centre has expressed intentions to launch protests now that it is not in the government. Regarding the Maoists’ objections to the government's stance on the SPP agreement, Oli said it was simply a "confusion." He stated, "I don’t need to give a confused answer. Where did you bring the SPP from? When they were in the government, some discussions were held, but there was no agreement on it."

Oli also stated that constitutional amendments would be made through Parliament and not through the formation of a commission. "Why form a commission? Constitutional amendments will be made by Parliament," he emphasized. Regarding dissatisfaction expressed by Congress leader Shekhar Koirala, Oli said he was unaware of such concerns. "I haven't heard about Shekhar Koirala's dissatisfaction. He must not have said that," Oli remarked.

On the issue of not granting rights to the provinces, Oli responded, "Rather than talking about rights, let's talk about work. We need to focus on the work of national development, good governance, and prosperity. Talking about rights all the time won't solve anything."
