Protest letter submitted to Israeli Embassy against genocide in Palestine
Kathmandu, November 11 — Representatives from Nepal’s political parties, civil society, professional organizations, labor unions, student, and youth groups jointly submitted a protest letter to the Israeli Embassy in Kathmandu on Monday against the massacre of Palestinians by Israel.
The protest letter, which was handed over to Israeli ambassador Shmulik Arie Bass, strongly condemns the Israeli government's actions of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Gaza and Lebanon. The letter expresses firm opposition and disagreement, stating:
"Our humanitarian conscience has compelled us to present this protest letter and to raise our voices with strength," the letter reads. "Because when any government deliberately kills more than 44,000 innocent Palestinians in a year, of whom nearly 70% are women and children, no one can remain silent."
The protest letter also mentions that more than half of the houses and hospitals, and 8 out of 10 schools in the Gaza Strip have been reduced to rubble.
"As a result of these actions, over 1.9 million Palestinians have been displaced from their land and homes due to fear and terror," the letter states. "According to any international humanitarian law or human rights framework, the activities carried out by your military can undoubtedly be labeled as genocide and war crimes. Therefore, we strongly condemn them."
The protest letter also mentions that due to the support of imperialist powers, decisions made by international bodies like the United Nations regarding Palestine have often failed to be implemented.
"We condemn such imperialist powers," the letter states, "which are encouraging such heinous acts."
"In this context, through Your Excellency, we wish to convey to your government that the blockade on food, essential living supplies, and medicine should be permanently lifted."
The protest letter also mentions that it is the moral responsibility of the Israeli government to make effective diplomatic efforts for the immediate release of Bipin Joshi, who has gone missing in Israel.
Coordinator of the joint campaign, Shyam Shrestha, informed that the protest letter was submitted to the Israeli Embassy in Lazimpat following a joint protest rally that gathered at Shankhadhar Park (formerly Ratnapark) at 1 PM on Monday.
