Protests erupt in Surkhet over police negligence in vehicle accident
Kathmandu, November 9 — Protests have erupted in Surkhet following a vehicle accident that occurred due to alleged negligence by the police.
The incident took place on Friday in Surkhet, where a 15-seat vehicle was carrying 34 passengers, leading to the accident. The victims' families have begun an agitation demanding justice.
The protesters are calling for action against the personnel at the Dailekh police checkpoint, compensation for the families of the deceased, and immediate medical treatment for the injured.
On Friday afternoon, a bus met with an accident at Ratangnala in Birendranagar Municipality-14, Surkhet.
The crash resulted in four fatalities and left 30 others injured. The location is close to the Dailekh-Surkhet border.
The vehicle, with registration number 0200Kha0998, was traveling from Dailekh to Surkhet when the accident occurred.
