Rabi Lamichhane's interrogation in final stages, expected to conclude today

Kathmandu, October 30 — Former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, who has been arrested on charges of embezzlement related to Suryadarshan Cooperative, is still being interrogated today. Lamichhane, who is also the president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), is being questioned at the District Police Office in Kaski.

On Tuesday, Kamala Kafle, Chief of the District Government Attorney's Office in Kaski, informed Ratopati that the interrogation was not completed and efforts were underway to conclude it today.

On October 28, the investigating officer and the government attorney questioned Lamichhane for about 8.5 hours. An officer involved in the investigation told Ratopati that Lamichhane’s questioning was ongoing and would continue on Wednesday as well.

The officer stated, "The questioning is not finished; we will continue today." Lamichhane was arrested on October 18 from Banasthali. Alongside him, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, Lila Pachhai, and Ram Bahadur Khanal are currently in Kaski police custody on similar embezzlement charges related to Suryadarshan.

In the interrogations so far, former Home Minister and RSP President Rabi Lamichhane has denied any involvement in taking loans from Suryadarshan.

He stated that he is neither a share member nor a borrower of Suryadarshan Cooperative, which operates in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 5, and added, "I was not in any position in the executive committee, accounting committee, loan committee, or any other capacity at Suryadarshan."
