Dozens arrested during RSP protest

Kathmandu, October 29 — More than 50 individuals were arrested on Tuesday during a protest organized by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) calling for the release of President Rabi Lamichhane.

Among those detained were MP Ashok Chaudhary and other party leaders and activists. According to SP Navraj Adhikari from the Kathmandu District Police, one of those arrested was a woman, while the rest were men.

The RSP staged a demonstration in Baluwatar to protest Lamichhane's arrest. The police intervened and made arrests after party leaders attempted to breach a restricted area during the protest.

Since Lamichhane's arrest on October 18 in connection with a cooperative fraud case, the RSP has been consistently protesting, with Tuesday's event specifically focused in Baluwatar.

The detainees are currently being held at various police stations in Kathmandu. The protesters vocally criticized the government and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
