One dead, another injured as two trucks collide in Palpa

Butwal, October 29 — One person has died and another has been injured in a collision between two trucks on the Siddhartha Highway in Palpa on Monday night.

The accident occurred when a truck with the license plate LU 1 Kha 9351, heading from Butwal to Pokhara, rear-ended another truck with the license plate NA 1 Ka 7121.

The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Bhuwan Singh Rana, the driver of truck LU 1 Kha 9351, who was a resident of Rambha Rural Municipality-3 in Palpa. He succumbed to his injuries while being treated at Lumbini Medical College in Prabhas, according to DSP Sunil Malla from the Palpa District Police Office.

The helper of the truck NA 1 Ka 7129, 21-year-old Sajjit Khawas Thapa, a resident of Waling Municipality-10 in Syangja, was injured in the incident. Preliminary investigations by the police suggest that the accident may have been caused by brake failure.
