Prachanda denies rumors of meeting with former King Gyanendra

Kathmandu, October 25 — After news of a purported meeting between Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' the chairperson of the Nepal Communist Party (Maoist Centre), and former king Gyanendra Shah spread on social media, Prachanda's secretariat felt compelled to respond.

Ramesh Malla, Prachanda's personal secretary, dismissed the rumors as fabricated and false. He stated that even after the Maoist movement has ended, a meeting with Gyanendra is not possible.

Malla commented to Ratopati, "It seems that someone is deliberately trying to weaken the Maoist party by using these claims. Meeting with Gyanendra would mean preparing to restore the monarchy. Our own leadership through the people's war has brought about a federal republic. To meet with Gyanendra would imply that the Maoists are ready to abolish the republic and establish a monarchy again. I urge everyone not to be misled by such fabricated rumors."

Journalist Kishor Nepal also discussed the alleged meeting with former king Gyanendra on social media.
