Separate protests in Pokhara as hearing on Rabi and Chhabi's remand extension continues

Kaski, October 24 — Ongoing discussions regarding the extension of remand for Rabi Lamichhane, the President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), and former DIG Chhabilal Joshi, who was a close associate of Lamichhane in the case involving the misappropriation of funds from Suryadarshan Cooperative.

The hearing is currently taking place in the courtroom presided over by Justice Chandrakanta Paudel at the Kaski District Court. Following the court's opening, the District Police Office of Kaski presented them for remand extension.

Meanwhile, while their remand extension is in progress, RSP cadres and victims have staged separate protests near the court.

RSP leaders and cadres are demonstrating around the Y Chowk area close to the Pokhara District Court, while victims of the cooperative are protesting at Mustang Chowk.

In anticipation of potential clashes from both protests, a substantial number of police personnel have been deployed. Lamichhane was arrested on October 19, and Joshi was apprehended on September 21 in Kathmandu.
