Wild elephant tramples 22-year-old to death in Kanchanpur
Kanchanpur, October 8 — A 22-year-old named Umesh Chaudhary was killed by a wild elephant in Pushpalal Smriti Community Forest, located in Ward 5 of Belauri Municipality.
The incident occurred last night while Chaudhary was heading towards his home in Dhakkachandar, Ward 6, on motorcycle number SE 4 PA 8618 after watching the Dashain dance in the nearby Mainaha area, according to Dinesh Kumar Yadav, head of the Kunda Subdivision Forest Office.
After hearing the sound of the elephant in the area, Umesh, along with 24-year-old Roshan Chaudhary and 22-year-old Navin Chaudhary, abandoned their motorcycle and fled. While Roshan and Navin were able to establish contact, Umesh could not be reached. Upon searching for him, he was found dead this morning in the community forest.
According to the District Police Office, there were signs of wild elephant dung at the location where Umesh was found dead, and it appeared that trees had been knocked down. The police are conducting a necessary investigation. Just a week ago, a wild elephant attack resulted in the death of 59-year-old Ramdal Rana in Dandajai of Lalajhadi Municipality-4.
