Chinese Communist Party donates relief to flood victims

Kathmandu, October 4 — The Communist Party of China (CCP) has provided relief to flood victims. Relief materials worth 19 million 70 thousand rupees donated by the CCP were distributed on Friday to those affected by the floods, in coordination with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 ward office.

In the presence of representatives from the China Foundation for Rural Development, the relief materials were handed over to ward chairperson Balakrishna Maharjan at a multi-party meeting held at Mahendra Saraswati Elementary School in Teku, Kathmandu. The ward provided assistance to the victims.

The relief materials included rice, lentils, mats, blankets, oil, soap, toothpaste, dishes, and mosquito nets. CFRD reported that the relief materials were distributed to over 42 households.

The event was attended by Nepali Congress central committee member Madhu Acharya, Maoist Center Politburo member Surya Subedi, Unified Socialist Deputy General Secretary Ramkumar Bhattarai, and Chinese Embassy Consul Wang Qin.

Previously, the Chinese Red Cross Society had already provided $100,000 in financial aid to the Nepalese government for the assistance of flood victims. The Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, personally handed over a check equivalent to that amount to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak in the Home Ministry at Singhadurbar.
