Landslides triggered by continuous rainfall claim four lives, leave seven missing

Kathmandu, September 28 — As continuous rainfall causes landslides, four people have died and at least seven are missing in various locations across the country.

In Temal Rural Municipality-7 of Kavrepalanchok, a landslide buried the one-story house of Bhim Bahadur Tamang, resulting in the deaths of his 50-year-old wife, Paatali Tamang, and 40-year-old Nakkali Tamang.

In Phidim Municipality-4 of Panchthar, two people died when a landslide buried a house. Their identities have not yet been confirmed. A team of ten from No. 2 Battalion, Panchthar, has been deployed to the site.

Similarly, in Panauti Municipality-11, a landslide buried 5-6 houses, and reports indicate that 4-5 people are missing. A rescue team of 15 has been dispatched from the disaster response base in Panauti.

In the Pakhribas Municipality-5 of Dhankuta, a landslide buried the temporary house of Santosh Tamang, resulting in his 32-year-old wife, Asha Tamang, and his 50-year-old mother, Ram Kumari Tamang, going missing. A joint rescue operation by 13 personnel from No. 6 Battalion, Dhankuta, along with Nepal Police and the Nepal Army, is ongoing.
