Constitution Day celebrated (in pictures)
Kathmandu, September 19 — Today marks Constitution Day and National Day 2024. Various programs are being held both domestically and internationally to celebrate the occasion with joy.
The federal, provincial, and local governments, political parties, non-governmental organizations, civil society, the private sector, and social institutions are all organizing different events to commemorate Constitution Day.
This morning, President Ram Chandra Paudel attended the main ceremony for Constitution Day held at the Army Pavilion in the federal capital, Kathmandu. On this occasion, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, who is also the chair of the Constitution Day Main Organizing Committee, delivered a speech. Later this evening, President Paudel will host a reception at the Presidential Palace.
The Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal was promulgated on September 20, 2015, following a seven-decade-long struggle, sacrifice, a ten-year People's War, and the broader movement of the Nepali people.
The Constitution, which consists of 35 parts, 308 articles, and 9 schedules, embodies the principles of federal democratic republic, inclusive democracy, proportional representation, and secularism. It commits to building a prosperous nation based on democratic values and socialism. The government has been celebrating this day annually as Constitution Day and National Day.
