The constitution was issued by the Constituent Assembly on September 20, 2015, as a culmination of the Nepali people's decades-long struggle, sacrifice, and people's movement for a federal democratic republic of Nepal.

The constitution, enshrined in 35 parts, 308 articles and 9 schedules, embodies the principles of federal democratic republic, inclusive democracy, proportional representation, and secularism. It is committed to building a prosperous nation based on democratic values and socialism. The government has been celebrating the day the constitution was issued as Constitution Day and National Day every year.

Today also marks nine years since the implementation of Nepal's constitution, which was established as "governance by the people for the people." In celebration of Constitution Day, there will be a musical performance at Durbar Marga in Kathmandu.

Meanwhile, on this occasion, the President, Prime Minister, Speaker, Chairman of the National Assembly, and various party leaders have sent messages urging the public to celebrate National Day with joy. The government has also called upon everyone to light lamps and hoist the national flag in observance of Constitution Day.
