Constitutional Council recommends Raut as next Chief Justice

Kathmandu, September 16 — Prakashman Singh Raut has been recommended for the position of Chief Justice by the Constitutional Council.

Deputy Speaker Indira Rana informed that the Council's meeting decided to recommend Raut's name for Chief Justice.

Rana noted that the decision was based on seniority.

If Raut's nomination is approved by the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, he will be appointed by the President.

Current Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha is set to retire on October 4.
