House session adjourned

Kathmandu, September 15 — The meeting of the House of Representatives has been postponed.

The meeting scheduled for Sunday was delayed after the main opposition party, CPN (Maoist Center), decided to obstruct it. As a result, Speaker Devraj Ghimire announced the postponement.

According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the meeting will now take place at 1 PM on Monday.

Previously, the meeting set for Sunday at 1 PM had been postponed to 3:15 PM due to a lack of agreement. Since no consensus was reached during this period, the meeting has been postponed until Wednesday.

The CPN-Maoist Center has objected to Speaker Ghimire's attempt to label the people’s war as "violence." On Thursday, the Speaker ruled that "violence" is not an unparliamentary term and would not be removed from the record.

The Maoist Center expressed its disapproval of the Speaker's decision and obstructed the House. To address this issue, Speaker Ghimire had called a meeting of the chief whips on Sunday morning. However, no agreement was reached in that meeting either.

The controversy began in the House of Representatives on September 27 when UML MP Yogesh Bhattarai referred to the people's war as violence, creating a dispute in the House. There has been ongoing confrontation between UML and Maoist MPs on this matter.
