Lumbini lawmaker KC pays fine, avoids imprisonment
Butwal, September 9 — Lumbini Province Assembly member Dhan Bahadur KC, who surrendered in court on Sunday, has been released on Monday.
He was released after paying the required amount in lieu of imprisonment, in accordance with the law.
Provincial assembly member from the Nepali Congress Party, Dhan Bahadur KC, was elected from Rukum East 1 (2) in 2022 elections. He was convicted of document tampering.
He did not complete his prison sentence and appeared in the Rukum East District Court on Sunday.
On Monday, he was released after paying 109,200 rupees, in accordance with Section 155 of the Criminal Code, 2017.
According to Radhakrishna Rijal, acting administrative officer of Rukum East District court, judge Lok Bahadur Hamal ordered KC’s release after the payment was made.
Rijal informed that KC paid 109,200 rupees, calculated at a rate of 300 rupees per day of imprisonment.
KC was not held in jail overnight on Sunday.
The Rukum District Court had sentenced KC to one year in prison and a 2,000 rupee fine for document forgery.
He was found guilty following a trial based on a complaint from his wife, Radha KC, who accused him of submitting fake documents in their divorce case.
