Deuba's parley with Thapa and Sharma aims to resolve policy rift
Kathmandu, August 29 — Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has summoned General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwa Prakash Sharma for a discussion today. Deuba has called them to his residence in Budhanilkantha to address the issue of revising the report they presented at the Central Committee meeting.
Deuba had previously discussed the matter with the General Secretaries on Tuesday, but no agreement was reached. Deuba insists that the report should be revised, while Thapa and Sharma oppose any changes.
Due to the lack of agreement, Chief Secretary Krishna Paudel has announced that the meeting originally scheduled for August 28 has been postponed to September 1.
Controversy is escalating over General Secretary Sharma's report on exit policy and General Secretary Thapa's report on not forming electoral alliances with other parties. The party leadership argues that the report must be amended, while the General Secretaries are firm on approving the reports as they are.
